The #TLOSBirthday Project for Chris Colfer’s 23rd Birthday
Chris’s birthday is coming up and of course, Hugs4Chris would like to do something special again for our special guy.
The TLOSHoliday book drive we did at Christmas was so successful that we’ve decided we’d really like to continue with round two – TLOSBirthday. Chris was so touched that you guys donated 471 copies of The Land of Stories to hospitalized children. We’d like to be able to reach even more kids this time!
If you were around for the holiday project, this is basically version 2.0 – a repeat of last time. If you’re new – welcome! We’re so happy you’ve joined us!
Read on - everything is outlined below.
You have two ways to participate in the #TLOSBirthday Project:
· OPTION # 1:
Buy/collect actual copies of the book yourself and donate locally to a nearby children’s hospital, the pediatric unit at a regular hospital, or a Ronald McDonald House. You will need to call the hospital / RMH beforehand to arrange a time and place to donate. They may also prefer audiobooks vs. actual books. Please call and check before you buy anything. Do not show up unannounced.Ask your parents, relatives, friends, teachers, co-workers etc. to donate copies of the book (or money to buy copies of the book) to help you. Several people did this last time and were able to donate a larger amount of books. Get the people you know involved so that we can get as many copies of TLOS into the hands of hospitalized kids as we can.
PLEASE print out our BOOKPLATE and AUDIO BOOKPLATE (click that) and attach them inside the books and audio books you donate. You can use regular paper and a simple glue stick to do this, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Please do not donate items without the bookplates attached. Thank you.IF YOU ARE DONATING LOCALLY – you MUST send us your information and photos to be included in the project. Please try to take photos of yourself and the book(s) you donate at the hospital (near a sign or something, if possible) and send it to us at hugs4chris@comcast.net along with your name, the name and location of the hospital (or Ronald McDonald House) you donated to, and the number of books you donated.
Send us 2 or 3 different photos if you like. We’ll put as many photos as we can into a photo album and send it to Chris again. The last photo album made him teary, so we need another batch of great photos of your pretty faces!
· OPTION # 2:
Donate directly to Hugs4Chris via Paypal. All funds collected will be used to purchase books and audiobooks that will be donated to hospitals around the US. Submit your donation on http://www.paypal.com to hugs4chris@comcast.net under the personal > gift tab (where available.) A Paypal account is NOT required to do this.Ask your parents, relatives, friends, teachers, co-workers etc. to contribute funds to your donation. Our largest donations came from those who did this last time. If you can get 5 friends to contribute $5 each, a parent to contribute $20, a co-worker to chip in $10 – it all adds up and will provide more children with books. Several people did this last time and were able to donate large amounts of money. Get the people you know involved so that we can get as many copies of TLOS into the hands of hospitalized kids as we can.
As of right now, a $12.00 donation will buy ONE copy of a The Land of Stories book, and an $18.00 donation will buy ONE copy of a The Land of Stories audiobook. This could change, as the prices on Amazon and the Barnes and Noble websites do fluctuate. (They went up about $1 each during the holiday project.)
You can donate ANY amount – every dollar helps. If you can’t afford to go buy or fund a whole book or audio book and can only donate $2.00, that’s amazing and wonderful and it all adds up! :) Please just contribute what you can. You can also donate more than once – this will be a 9 week long project.A list of monetary donor names will also be sent to Chris along with the photo album. If you contribute both ways, your name will be on the list and your photo(s) will be in the album.
The deadline for monetary donations is Wednesday, May 1st, 2013.
The deadline for photo submissions is Monday, May 6th, 2013.
It’s also a huge, huge help to us if everyone will please reblog and tweet about this as often as you can to help spread the word, too! If you can’t donate, promotion is a great way of contributing. Please let all your fandom friends know.
Remember, the more people who help out, the more kids we can get books to!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you so much for your continued support! xoxo

It’s ridiculous he has to avoid Twitter because people are mean to him over what happens on a fictional TV show. :|
We will be having a #Hugs4Chris Tweetathon on Twitter for him next Thursday. Maybe it’s good that our hug anniversary falls on the day that breakup episode airs.
Also, he told me at the Skokie signing that he “loves it when” we have the Hugfest Tweetathon parties on Twitter and they are “so fun!” :)
Cutie!
